Box of Dread November 2015

“The Horror Subscription Box”

Price:
$14 (1 Month) or $13 (3 Months) | Shipping: $6

IMG_20151120_123459From the folks at horror news site Dread Central is their horror-themed subscription box, Box of Dread. Box of Dread is a lower-priced box with two different options. You can choose either $14 for 1 month or a 3 month plan for $13 a month and the shipping is $6. Every month they choose a “7th Box” at random worth over $200 in horror items. Each month has a general theme with this one being “Elder Gods Awaken”.

Box of Dread arrived in a wide brown box.

October’s Box of Dread included a Creepshow documentary DVD, Todd Farmer Autograph, Paranormal Activity Poster and a Deathgasm Sticker, Poster & Book.

Popular with just about every subscription box is the Funko POP! figures. This one is of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu. I’m not usually a big fan of these but Cthulhu has a pretty great sculpt. It’s more detailed than I expected.

Continuing with the Cthulhu/Elder Gods theme is a Cthulhu keychain.

This Cthulhu window sticker has some pretty great art and includes an inscription in Lovecraft’s created language. It roughly translates to Cthulhu waits.

A bonus to this month’s box is two tribute items to recently lost horror icons Gunnar Hansen and Wes Craven. This is a signed print by the artist Lou Rusconi of Gunnar Hansen in his iconic role as Leatherface.

The second tribute item is a mini poster tribute to horror director Wes Craven. Box of Dread’s website has a really nice write up about this month’s tribute items and the loss of Hansen and Craven.

IMG_20151120_124059If you’re a fan of Lovecraft and Cthulhu, then this is going to be your favorite month with the inclusion of the Funko POP!, the keychain and the awesome sticker. The Wes Craven tribute poster and Gunnar Hansen art print are both really great additions. All of this is only $20 shipped, yet again Box of Dread proves to be one of the best values for subscription boxes.
